Burch's Karate Coronavirus Update

Dear Burch’s Karate Families…

We all have a new heightened awareness that the Coronavirus has made its presence known in our state and we would like to address any fears that may begin to develop regarding the environment we now find ourselves in.  We are keeping abreast of the developing situation and will swiftly modify training as needed to ensure everyone is comfortable and that we are taking this situation seriously.

We are 100% committed to ensuring Burch’s Karate remains a safe training environment.

You know the saying, “It is always better to be safe than sorry” and this is one of the reasons students train with us.

As of today, the risk of exposure to the virus in our community is very low.  However, we must continually look at the virus as a potential threat and act accordingly just as we would during any season of colds, flu and the increased likelihood of respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses. Our best protection against the spread of illness continues to be intelligent prevention without panic.

After careful consideration, we have decided to follow the lead of the school districts and close for next week March 16th - 21st. The safety of our students and their families are of the utmost importance to us.

We will continue to be on top of the events and consider everyone’s safety first and foremost.

When we get back to normal, we will plan on having FREE Catch Up camps for students to make up for any missed time.

Promotions are still planned for March 28, unless we hear otherwise.  If the district is closed during that time, most likely we will not be able to have promotions. We will plan something to make sure our students are rewarded for their hard work.

However, it is also important that we continue to keep our students involved on regular training schedule.  This is imperative to them as we want to try and maintain a calm and fun experience during this uneasy time.

We have some exciting news for all our students…to continue training during our “stuck at home” week, we will bring the dojo to YOUR living room!

VIRTUAL-DOJO will be going "Live"on Zoom!

We are going to be offering virtual dojo classes that you can do with your Karate Kid at home! We plan on making this a fun and exciting experience and encourage parents to participate making this a little more fun for your kids.

We will be offering “missions” to complete which will earn points for students giving them an opportunity to win prizes, such as t-shirts, gift certificates, toys, and coupons from our local small businesses. To keep our community of small businesses in mind, we plan on getting some of them to donate coupons or special giveaways so we can continue to support them during these anxious times.

We are working the next couple of days to make our VIRTUAL-DOJO goes off without a hitch. But if there are some glitches, we ask that you be patient with us.

This weeks VIRTUAL-DOJO will have live interactive classes on WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND SATURDAY! We will post the "Live" class times soon. If you miss a "Live" class it will be recorded for you to watch at your convenience.

Please make sure you download ZOOM on your phone or laptop and get ready for more announcements concerning VIRTUAL-DOJO.
